Why Carry
Name, state, issue and expiration dates — add each carry permit you hold in a couple of minutes.
The website shows you when each permit expires. The iPhone app can go further and remind you before one does, with a notification it schedules on your own phone, if you allow notifications.
The same free reciprocity map, built in — check every state a permit carries in before you travel.
How this works
Worth saying plainly, not burying in fine print.
New accounts get true end-to-end encryption, the same client-side design CaliberBase Vault uses. Every permit's name, state and dates are encrypted on your device with a key that only your password or your recovery code can unlock, and we store wrapped key copies rather than the unwrapped key. Our normal server tools cannot read those encrypted permits. Wrapped keys and ciphertext can also be present in recovery backups; your password and device security still matter. The tradeoff is real and we will not hide it: you get a recovery code at signup, and it is the only way back in if you forget your password.
What stays readable on our side is small, and the Privacy Policy describes it: your email address; your home state and your name, if you give them; how many permits you have and when each changed; when you were last active; the IP address, browser or device details, and country and region of your sign-ins; and anything you send to support. See exactly what it would take to break in, with the numbers behind it.
Older accounts — the ones whose sign-up did not show a recovery code — use the earlier scheme, where permits are encrypted on our servers under our key rather than yours, and each permit's state and expiration date are stored unencrypted. Those accounts keep working exactly as they always have.
If you also want a real, insurance-ready inventory of your firearms — values, serials, photos — that's what CaliberBase Vault is for.
CaliberBase Vault is the sibling product — an inventory with device-encrypted collection storage. Readable account metadata, optional AI requests and support messages are explained in its Privacy Policy.
