Terms of Service

Effective October 23, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CaliberBase™ Carry (the "Service"), operated by CaliberBase ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Information, not legal advice. Read this first

The Service displays carry-reciprocity information, state-law summaries, place-restriction categories, and a view of when your permits expire. None of it is legal advice, none of it is guaranteed to be accurate or current, and none of it should be the basis for a decision to carry a firearm anywhere. Reciprocity between states changes through legislation, litigation, attorney-general opinions, and agreements between states, sometimes with little notice and sometimes with immediate effect. A reference table cannot capture the conditions, exceptions, and locality-specific rules that determine whether a particular permit is honored for a particular person in a particular place on a particular day.

All state-law summaries, carry-reciprocity determinations, place-restriction categories, permit-renewal and training-requirement information, official-resource links, and similar informational content in the Service are provided for general reference only. They are not legal advice, do not create an attorney-client relationship, and are not a substitute for your own legal judgment or that of a qualified attorney.

We compile this information from public sources and review it periodically. The Service displays an "as of" date for its reciprocity data; that date tells you when we last reviewed it, not that the underlying law has not changed since. We do not warrant that any of it is complete, current, or correct for your circumstances, and we do not undertake to notify you when a law changes.

You are solely responsible for compliance with all federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial laws governing the possession, carrying, transport, and storage of firearms, including laws about specific locations such as schools, government buildings, posted private property, airports, and vehicles, and including the laws of any jurisdiction you travel through rather than only the one you are going to. Before you carry, transport, or store a firearm anywhere, and especially before you cross a state line while armed, verify the current law with the official authority in that jurisdiction and, where the answer matters, consult an attorney licensed there.

2. What the Service is

CaliberBase Carry helps you keep a record of the state and expiration date of the carry permits and licenses you personally hold, see when each one expires, and look up how your permits are treated across states. It is a personal recordkeeping and reference tool. It does not issue, renew, verify, validate, or register any permit, and it has no relationship with any issuing authority. A record in the Service is not a permit and has no legal effect.

Free Carry provides the basic map and destination reciprocity results. A free CaliberBase account may confirm one home jurisdiction for single-permit coverage and full home-state information. The app asks you to confirm that choice before saving it. Changing or combining permit jurisdictions and full reference access for other states require Carry Plus. Features and purchase channels may differ by platform.

Carry Plus provides multi-permit coverage, full published state reference details, permit expiration tracking and device reminders. On iOS it is an optional annual auto-renewable Apple subscription priced at US $9.99 per year for the U.S. storefront. The price shown by Apple before confirmation applies. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. Renewal continues unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends; manage or cancel it in Apple Account subscription settings. Restore Purchases is available in Carry Plus. Deleting a CaliberBase account does not cancel Apple renewal.

Verified paid CaliberBase Vault access includes Carry Plus; Vault Free includes Free Carry. Carry Plus alone does not grant Vault Paid features. Sign in to the same CaliberBase account on supported devices to use your access without a second Carry purchase. Upgrading to Vault does not automatically cancel an existing Apple or Google Play Carry Plus subscription; manage that renewal separately to avoid paying twice. The Apple app also uses Apple's Standard EULA. AI questions are not included in the current release.

If existing free features become paid in a later release, we will provide notice and an opportunity to decline.

3. Eligibility and your responsibilities

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not verify age, so this is a term you agree to rather than a check we perform. You agree to provide accurate information about your own permits and to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You are responsible for everything done through your account.

4. Your account and your keys

If your sign-up showed you a recovery code, your account is end-to-end encrypted: your permit details are encrypted on your device, with a key that only your password or your recovery code can unlock, before they reach our servers. We cannot read them or decrypt them for anyone. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, your permits are permanently unrecoverable by anyone, including us. There is no password reset that preserves your data, because we do not hold the key. A recovery code is issued at sign-up, and a fresh one each time you use it to set a new password; keep it somewhere physical and safe.

Older accounts, created before end-to-end encryption, keep each permit's state and expiration date unencrypted and the rest encrypted on our servers under a key we hold. They can reset a password by email, and the statements above about our inability to read or recover your data do not apply to them. In both cases some information must be readable by us to run the Service; our Privacy Policy lists what.

5. Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee

Reminders are notifications the app schedules on your own device, as described in Section 3 of the Privacy Policy. We do not send reminder emails, and the website neither emails nor notifies you. A notification can fail to reach you for reasons outside our control: notification permission turned off, a Focus or Do Not Disturb setting, being signed out, the app deleted or never opened on a new device, changes made elsewhere that the app has not yet picked up, a reminder whose scheduled time has already passed, or a date entered incorrectly in the first place.

Do not rely on the Service as your only method of tracking a renewal deadline. Missing a renewal is your responsibility and not ours.

6. Prohibited use

You may not use the Service to record permits that are not yours; to store content that is unlawful; to attempt to gain access to another account or to any part of our systems you are not authorized to reach; to probe, scan, or test the security of the Service except through a good-faith report to us; to scrape, bulk-extract, or redistribute our reciprocity or state-law data as a competing dataset or product; or to interfere with the Service's operation.

7. Ownership

The Service, its software, its interface, its brand, and its compiled reference data are ours and are protected by intellectual-property law. You keep all rights to the permit records you put into the Service; nothing here transfers ownership of your content to us. We claim no license to your content beyond what is technically required to store it and show it back to you, and for end-to-end encrypted accounts we could not make use of it if we wanted to.

8. Moving your account to another product

Upgrading your existing Carry account to CaliberBase Vault is optional and requires eligible paid, lifetime or granted Vault access. If you convert, your permits are migrated into that account, your Carry-side records are removed once the migration completes, and a new recovery kit is issued to you; your old recovery code stops working at that point. Conversion is one-way. Carry supports the resulting Vault account: verified Vault Paid includes Carry Plus and Vault Free includes Free Carry. From then on your use of that product is governed by its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, including its subscription and billing terms.

9. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, or discontinue features. If we discontinue the Service as a whole, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your records first. Export is available from Backup & Restore on the website; the app does not export.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL INFORMATION IN IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY RECIPROCITY, STATE-LAW, PLACE-RESTRICTION, OR RENEWAL INFORMATION IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CALIBERBASE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY ARREST, PROSECUTION, FINE, PENALTY, FORFEITURE, LOSS OF A PERMIT OR OF THE RIGHT TO POSSESS A FIREARM, OR OTHER LEGAL CONSEQUENCE ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON INFORMATION DISPLAYED BY THE SERVICE, AND ANY LOSS OF YOUR RECORDS RESULTING FROM A LOST PASSWORD AND RECOVERY CODE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is so, the above applies to the fullest extent permitted, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CaliberBase and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law.

13. Ending your account

You may delete your account at any time from inside the app or on the website. Section 9 of the Privacy Policy explains how deletion works, what is destroyed and what we keep. We do not restore an account once it has been permanently deleted. Permanent deletion removes the active account and its key wrappers; recovery copies and retained metadata follow Section 9 of the Privacy Policy. Export anything you want to keep first. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will give notice in the Service or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it. The effective date above shows the current version.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, regardless of where you access or use the Service from.

16. Apple App Store

If you obtained the CaliberBase Carry app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also governs your license to use that app, and controls over these Terms to the extent the two conflict about that license. These Terms continue to govern the Service itself.
